Septic tank pumping that gets ahead of the backup

We empty the whole tank, check what we can see, and tell you when it is due again.

What you get with every pump-out

  • Every compartment emptied through the main lids

  • Scum and sludge broken up first

  • Baffles and tees checked once it's empty

  • Outlet filter cleaned, if your tank has one

  • Waste hauled to an approved disposal site

  • Lids closed safely, notes left with you

Call us when you notice

  • Slow drains in more than one fixture
  • Gurgling pipes or a sewage smell
  • Soggy ground or lush grass near the tank
  • You can't remember the last pump-out
  • Sewage backing up? Call now, we're 24/7

How a pump-out works

  1. Book it

Tell us about your tank, and where the lids are if you know.

  2. We measure

We open the access ports and measure the scum and sludge layers.

  3. We empty it

We break up the layers, empty every compartment and check the baffles.

  4. You get notes

We write down what we saw and when your next pump-out is likely due.

Numbers worth knowing

  • 3 to 5 yrsHow often SC DES says most home tanks need pumping, based on tank and household size.
  • 1/3 to 1/2SC DES says pump when solids fill a third to a half of the tank.
  • 50%A garbage disposal can add up to 50 percent more solids, so you pump sooner.

Good to know

  • Additives don't replace pumping

SC DES says additives are not necessary and some may be harmful.

  • No restart needed afterward

SC DES says a pumped tank needs no bacteria, yeast or other starter.

  • Map your tank after service

Sketch where the tank and drain field sit, and keep it with your records.

Pumping questions, answered

How often should my septic tank be pumped?

SC DES says most home tanks need pumping every 3 to 5 years. More people, more water or a garbage disposal means sooner. The real trigger is solids filling a third to a half of the tank, and a measurement tells you that.

Where does the waste go?

It goes to a disposal site the state has approved. South Carolina rules say pumpers may only discharge at approved sites and must keep a record of every job.

What changes how long a pump-out takes?

Tank size, how much has built up and how easy the lids are to reach. A tank that hasn't been pumped in years takes longer than a routine one. We quote each job in writing before work starts.

Is pumping the same as cleaning?

In South Carolina's septic rules, cleaning means removing the tank's contents and hauling them to an approved site, which is what pumping does. We also offer a full clean-out for tanks that are overdue or built up, with the same truck and the same process.

Will pumping fix my slow drains?

Only if a full tank is the cause. If drains stay slow or sewage backs up after a pump-out, a broken baffle, a blocked pipe or a struggling drain field can be behind it. An inspection checks each of those.
